Fund research & selection

Build or review a fund shortlist with a documented basis for each conclusion.

We screen your defined universe against agreed criteria, then examine the investment and operational evidence. A selection status follows an actual completed assessment; it is never inferred from inclusion in a list.

What you get

  • A dated selection list recording the funds examined and their conclusions. Selected, Watchlist and Not selected have distinct meanings; an unexamined fund is not silently called Not selected.
  • Fund profiles covering strategy, team, process, portfolio characteristics and risk drivers.
  • Investment and operational findings, assessed separately, with their supporting evidence and unresolved questions.
  • Monitoring notes recording changes and the points to revisit after selection.

The agreed output may be a selection memo, a scoped assessment or a committee summary. A full due diligence report is issued only when the required examination has actually been completed.

When to bring us a universe

For professional teams establishing a new shortlist, reassessing holdings or seeking an independent review of their selection. For a single comparison, see Fund Advisory.

The public OpenList — Long Only is a separate selection with its own published method.

How it works

We agree the universe, criteria and timetable, screen candidates, and examine the shortlist to the agreed depth. Each conclusion records its rationale, evidence gaps and monitoring points.

Research judgments follow the WS Partners methodology. Merit-based selection is separate from commercial relationships, which do not decide which conclusion the research reaches. Related comparison and decision support is available through Fund Advisory.

What fund research & selection does not do

  • It does not make the decision, and it does not assess suitability for your client. Both stay with you.
  • A status is not a recommendation to buy. Selected means the fund met the criteria for a defined research scope after adequate examination; it is not certification.
  • It is research, not a guarantee of outcome. Monitoring exists because conclusions age.
  • These outputs support professional documentation and decision processes. They do not constitute an offer or solicitation, and are intended for qualified investors and professional users in Switzerland.

Outline the mandate, asset class or committee question and your timetable. We will agree the research scope and output.
