Real estate is an excellent means of diversification from a portfolio construction perspective. It is also a good way to protect against inflation. These are two concerns that are relevant today.

However, before investing in real estate through a mutual fund, two pitfalls must be considered; Indirect investments (through REITS or real estate companies) are liquid but remain highly correlated to equities, while direct investments are highly illiquid but lowly correlated to equities.

The Invesco Global Real Estate Fund is a quite unique way to invest in real estate, by bringing together direct investment through 4 regional open-ended direct real estate strategies managed by Invesco, and indirect investment, through REITS, for liquidity purpose (70% and 30% of the portfolio respectively).
